2022 saw the launch of the GABS Cares Up and Coming brewers initiative, an initiative designed to support small independent Australian Beer craft start ups by giving back to the brewing community and provide otherwise unreachable, early to market benefits, to new and emerging Aussie breweries.
The Up & Coming Brewers Bar has become a feature attraction at GABS world renowned beer festivals, as it showcases four different breweries in each state.
This annual initiative has been remarkably well received by breweries, consumers and industry and is proudly supported by the country’s leading hop grower HPA, who provide successful breweries 20kg of hops to make an incredible festival beer, Konvoy who provide the kegs to transport the beer and bar barons who build an amazing bar to serve the beer to thirsty GABS patrons.

MELBOURNE
- Bendigo Brewing: focusing on brewing delicious, easy-drinking beer, this brewery sources preferentially local, regeneratively grown, organic, and heirloom varieties of grain and hops. The reason? Maximum flavour with minimum impact!
- Jump Ship Brewing: a family-owned brewery in Port Lincoln, which celebrates the Eyre Peninsula and the South Australian coastline. Mishy & Stiffy’s mission is to brew high quality craft beers which showcase their pristine environment and connection with their community.
- Maffco Brewery and Distillery: a farmer and a teacher took a punt on an old milk factory in Maffra and transformed it into a local brewery! Beloved by locals, Maffco is now pouring great beers and aiding wonderful memories every day.
- Murray Towns Brewing Co: partners Jodie, Andrew and Barry spent countless days in Jodie’s chook yard in South Albury, tasting and developing artisan craft beer. Now, they are proudly sharing this experience with their community. Evoking curiosity and satisfaction, their ‘why’ is to brew beer for the enjoyment of all.
